Juan Ferreira

Juan Ferreira is a founding partner of Jarsun, Ferreira & Calvo and leads the firm's Fintech and Financial Regulation practice. His practice combines regulatory and transactional advice to technology and financial services companies with extensive experience in corporate law, venture capital and cross-border transactions, particularly between Argentina and the United States. He is admitted to practice in New York and Buenos Aires.

Before founding Jarsun, Ferreira & Calvo, Juan led the legal function for the financial services division of a U.S.-based fintech company, where he worked closely with product, compliance and operations teams and led the company's multistate regulatory licensing strategy. This in-house experience now informs his work advising fintech companies on the design, launch and expansion of regulated financial products.

Juan advises fintech companies, digital asset platforms and other financial technology businesses on regulatory matters, product structuring and market entry. His experience spans payments, digital lending and financing, digital assets and other fintech business models, including Money Services Business (MSB) registration with FinCEN and state money transmission licensing in the United States, as well as the regulation of Virtual Asset Service Providers (PSAVs), Payment Service Providers (PSPs) and non-bank credit providers in Argentina.

In his corporate practice, Juan advises domestic and international companies on the structuring and reorganization of their operations, corporate formation and governance, joint ventures, acquisitions, investments and other corporate transactions. He also regularly assists foreign companies entering and expanding in the Argentine market, including with the design and implementation of corporate structures, cross-border investments, regulatory matters and the commercial agreements required to establish and grow their operations.

Juan also represents startups, venture capital funds and investors in financing transactions, including equity rounds, SAFEs, convertible notes and other investment structures. His practice also covers the contractual, consumer protection, privacy and technology matters associated with the launch and operation of digital products and businesses.

Previously, Juan spent nearly a decade as legal counsel to a government institution in Buenos Aires, where his practice included public procurement, regulatory matters and litigation.
